We found a rare piece of expressionism in Copenhagen, the Grundtvig's Church
nnFound this crazily beautiful piece of architecture by mistake, or as a surprise, while biking in Copenhagen last Saturday!nnnnnn
nnnnnI first saw this church as a recommended place to see in one of my favorite Scandinavian blogs (the Scandinavia Standard) and I wrote it on my to-do list in Copenhagen this year.nnnnn
nnnnnWell, I didn't expect to bump into it so fast! We were crossing the neighborhood of Bispebjerg (where there is also fantastic cemetery to be explored by the way) when I saw the church and immediately recognize it from the picture.nnnnn
nnnnnThe good thing about biking is that you can stop anywhere at any time.nnnnn

nnnnnnThe Grundtvig's Churchnnnnnn
nnnnnn
is one of the rare pieces of expressionist architecture, a movement that started here in Europe during the first decades of the 20th century.
nnnnnn
nnnnnnYou get properly shocked when you actually get inside the church!nnnnnn

nnnnnnNordic | Expressionismnnnnnn
nnnnnI found it just unique - this mix of modern and gothic style with super minimalistic interior - simples wooden chairs and no images - really Nordic.nnnnn

nnnnnIf you like architecure, photography and exploring the non-touristic places - visit this church and get there by bike :)nnnnn
