Since I started writing in Medium, I honestly haven't found the motivation to update this little blog.n

And it's a pity.

Is it, though?

During my writing journey, I've met many writers who quit their personal blogs and moved to Medium.

n

Medium is an amazing place to socialize and find people like you.

n

In other words, people with high-quality writing skills providing high-quality content.

n

I'd say it's very easy to start a blog nowadays, but to start a decent one, it's very hard.

n

And that's because creating a blog is not about choosing your domain, working a little bit on the design, and posting anything that comes to your mind.

n

It's way beyond that.

nYou need to build an audience.n

You need to somehow drive your audience to your blog. And that's a challenge.

n

How do you make someone get out of Instagram to click on your profile link and go to another completely unknown page?

n

That sounds easy for you if you are like me - crazy about digesting content from everywhere.

n

I feel energized when I discover new blogs. I love reading blogs, I can do this all day long.

n

But for the mass - that's torture.

nAnd how does Medium solves this problem?n

Easy.

n

Medium is a community of writers and readers crazy about good content. And they all love what they are reading. THEY EVEN PAY FOR THAT! Yes, on Medium people pay to read more than 10 articles a month. I paid. I was so tired of reaching my limits within 2 or 3 days and having to wait for the next month so I could read again.

nArticles on Medium are customized to your taste. In a proper way.n

Once the algorithm gets to understand you, it will deliver your daily content the way you like.

And you will feel like reading all of it. Isn't it true?

n

I moved to Medium firstly because I was tired of writing in English and secondly because I felt free to write whatever I wanted there. Here I feel like my posts here have to be more serious. They are what we call the real content. I check the analytics often to see what people read the most and I write posts based on that. Yes, besides a writer, I'm also very analytical. SEO? Also did a course just to understand how to drive traffic to this page you're reading right now (and all the others as well).

nBut those numbers stop me from being real, from being authentic and spontaneous.n

And for a Portuguese native speaker, it feels so liberator to express my feelings in Portuguese.

So one day, I decided to write a single article there, in Portuguese, just to feel and see how it goes.

n

It was amazing.

n

Not only for me but for my audience.
I started getting feedback from anonymous readers that never commented here before.

Engaging in a website feels so personal, don't you agree?

n

But when you write in a community that encourages you to engage, that's a different game.

Because I got a crazy creativity boost today and that's my 4th text of the day.

Don't ask me how I did it, it just happened.

nImagine a rainy Sunday morning.n

I woke up, collected my art supplies, and sit on the table to finally paint something.

n

After days of procrastination with my own needs, I gave myself time to paint.

n

No distractions, just the colors and me.

n

Ok, there was a distraction, it was an inspiring podcast I listened to while I was painting, but it was really inspiring so it counts as positive.

n

I painted, listened, reflected on some ideas, and then wrote my daily article on Medium.

n

That daily article wasn't fulfilling enough, so I wrote another one and saved on drafts for future needs (those days when you don't have anything to post but you must).

n

At 13:00 I had a live session on Instagram with Yuria about self-confidence. Oh yes.

n

And after that, I wrote the 3rd text of the day.

n

Now it's 7pm and I am still writing. This time, the 4th text of the day on the blog I don't update since May.

n

I don't know when I'll be back here, but I just wanna let you know that I'm still very present on my writing routine, but there on Medium.

n

I'm still figuring out what kind of content I will be sharing here.

n
